Introduction To I.U.T.S. |
Introduction
The Inter University Transit System is overseen by the Council of Ontario Universities. Day to day pick ups and deliveries are handled by Canpar Courier. All IUTS shipments are picked up by Shipping/Receiving/Mail Services staff daily and brought to Shipping/Receiving where they are sorted and packaged for shipping by Canpar. Shipping/Receiving staff prepare all Canpar shipping labels. Ryerson University receives dedicated delivery of Canpar shipments including all IUTS shipments daily at about 8;00 a.m. All outbound shipments of IUTS are sent out twice weekly by Canpar and picked up at a dedicated time of 3:00 p.m.

The purposes of the Inter University Transit System are to:

Provide a secure and reliable daily exchange service of library books between all Ontario Universities. |
| 2. | Provide a service for delivery of teaching materials, equipment, and other items which are exchanged between the universities. |
| 3. | Carry documents and computerized student admission data between the Ontario Universities' Application Centre, Guelph and Ontario Universities. |
Please Note: Personal Mail may not be transported via IUTS. Under no circumstances are IUTS vehicles permitted to transport passengers or hazardous materials.
Library Materials and Books
Shipping/Receiving/Mail Services will pick up all IUTS shipments from the Library daily at approx. 11:00 a.m. Pick ups of IUTS shipments from any dept will be made by the S/R/M staff during their daily runs.
Video Tapes, Audio Tapes, and Micro-Films
Video tapes,audio tapes and microfilms being shipped by IUTS must be securely packed.
Maps and Other Large Sheets
Maps and other large sheets of paper for transportation by the IUTS system must be placed in mailing tubes or boxes.
Shipments to Quebec Universities
All shipments to Quebec Universities are routed through Canada Post Expresspost services. Shipping/Receiving prepares all shipping labels using Canada Post online shipping tools.
Shipments are picked up by Canada Post daily at a dedicated time of 3:00 p.m.
