How to Submit a Course for Transfer Credit Evaluation

If you are a Ryerson undergraduate degree student, you may wish to submit courses that you have completed at other accredited Ontario institutions for credit towards your Ryerson program of study.

For courses taken at institutions outside of Ontario, you must manually submit a Transfer Credit Application Form to  Enrollment Services and Student Records along with course outlines and your official post-secondary transcripts (if not previously submitted) .

Be sure to write your student ID on your course outlines!

The maximum number of external courses and challenge credits that can apply to your program’s requirements is normally 50%. This may vary depending on your course of study. The policy is described on the www.ryerson.ca/transfercredits website.

Courses that may be considered for a transfer credit must have a grade of:

  • University – C or better (60% or higher)
  • Accredited community college/institute of technology – B or better (70% or higher)

Transfer Credits are not used in the calculation of your Grade Point Average.

The transfer credit process is:

  • You enter the details of the course you want to be evaluated for a transfer credit.
    • If an equivalency exists – the status appears as "Accepted, pending validation". The Transfer Credit office will verify your submission and the results will appear on your Transfer Credit Report.
    • If no equivalency exists – the Transfer Credit office will verify your submission and, forward it to the appropriate faculty for evaluation. This process can take six to eight weeks.
  • Once the evaluation is done, you can view the results on a Transfer Credit Report.

Before you start, make sure that you have your official transcript handy. You only have one opportunity to enter courses per institution!
