Frequently Asked Questions

Q: My department/school is hosting an event. I have seen the President's/Chancellor's invitation and would like to make our invitations the same as those. Can I?

A: In order to keep Presidential or Chancellorial invitations distinct, a unique design has been created. This exclusive invitation can be identified by the blue "R" and yellow "U" which adorns the front/top.

University Advancement (UA) works with departments/schools to create templated event invitations that feature the Ryerson brand mark centered on the front/bottom. To order invitations, contact UA at least 3-4 weeks before your desired delivery date at 416-979-5000, ext. 7894.

Q: I have seen the Ryerson crest and would like to use it on my invitation/documents. What is the protocol for using the Ryerson crest?

A: The use of Ryerson University's crest is reserved for the Chancellor's Office, President's Office, official scholarly documents and convocation. For more information on branding policy, and the use of the crest, please visit www.ryerson.ca/branding for Ryerson's Graphic Standards Manual.

Q: Our department/school is hosting a high profile event which has distinguished guests attending. Is it possible to have the Chancellor or President co-host the event?

A: The President and Chancellor can co-host events. The most common approach is the concept of 'hosting in-name-only'. Which traditionally means the use of their title is used to help bring awareness to the prestige of the event. Please contact the President/Chancellor's Office for details.
