Launching a new year is always exciting. At Ryerson, this is a beginning like no other.

This Fall we celebrate the official opening of two facilities that have captured the imagination and attention of the world. The Mattamy Athletic Centre at the Gardens brings back the ice to a Toronto icon, and exceptional facilities for our students and community. The Ryerson Image Centre, home of the extraordinary Black Star Collection, opens in the renewed Image Arts Building as a public gallery dedicated to international leadership in research and collections.

There are more new beginnings on the horizon, as construction of the Student Learning Centre continues on Yonge Street, and we move forward on our Health Sciences Building and student residence project.

New spaces only come to life when they are filled with students. We invite you to take ownership with energy and pride. This year, in the tradition of Ryerson community engagement, there is a wonderful added dimension with opportunities for friends and family to become involved. We encourage you to bring them along for the ride.

As the 2012-13 academic year begins, we are delighted to welcome you to a year of learning and adventure, and wish you all the very best..
