Welcome to Ryerson, a university renowned as a city-builder and recognized for leading the evolution of 21st century education. Our mission connects academic programs and research to local and global challenges, responding to the needs of society with creative innovation and a culture of inclusion.

Our guiding principles are what I call the 4 V’s: the value of the student experience, the value of talented faculty and staff, the value of the Ryerson degree to alumni, and the value of strategic partnerships. We focus on team-building that aims high and takes joy in the journey.

Students choose Ryerson for signature programs that are professional and industry leaders, and access to professors prominent in their fields.  We are proud of our reputation for undergraduate and graduate education that combines theory and practice in preparing you for a fulfilling career – and lifelong learning that encourages and serves ambition and engagement.

Ryerson distinction includes the DMZ, ranked #1 in Canada and #3 in the world for university-based entrepreneurial startups. Our ten learning zones offer opportunities for students interested in acquiring emerging skills in a growing range of disciplines.

Our Centre for Urban Energy is advancing solutions for environmental sustainability with research including electric vehicles, zero energy housing and smart grid storage, and student projects that create jobs and businesses.

We are the home of the Rams, 2016 Ontario basketball champions – both men’s and women’s teams. We play in the Mattamy Athletic Centre at the former Maple Leaf Gardens, and it’s home ice for Rams hockey, community skating and many events.

The award-winning Student Learning Centre, our new campus gateway on Yonge Street, offers eight spectacular theme-based floors. A block away you can volunteer on the roof at the Ryerson Urban Farm that produced 8,000 pounds of organic vegetables last year.

There is so much more. I look forward to seeing you on campus, and having the chance to talk with you at my ‘meet and greet’ events throughout the year.
