The Board of Governors of Ryerson University has appointed Sheldon Levy to a second term as President and Vice-Chancellor. Levy's second five-year appointment begins August 1, 2010 following the completion of his current term.
"President Levy enjoys tremendous support both inside and outside the Ryerson community for his vision, leadership and mandate," said Peter Lukasiewicz, Chair of Ryerson's Board of Governors. "The Board unanimously and enthusiastically agreed to reappoint him for a second term. Although still in his first term, the President has already moved forward significantly the four priorities he identified in The Quality Agenda for the University: student engagement and success; scholarship, research and creative activity; graduate program development; and reputation enhancement."
"I am delighted to accept the reappointment. Ryerson is a great university, and it is an honour to be the President," said Levy. "I would like to say thank you to the Ryerson community for being such an inspiration, and for always giving so much energy and confidence. I look forward to the things we can accomplish together."
In making the reappointment the Board of Governors extended thanks and appreciation to President Levy for his remarkable achievements, and for the depth of his commitment to Ryerson and in particular its students. The Board expressed confidence that under his leadership, Ryerson University will continue to flourish as an innovative academic and research institution, as a city builder, and as the destination of choice for students seeking a unique university experience.
