How to Get Help from an Advisor

During all hours of operation in KHW71 an advisor is available to assist you with any questions you may have. Advisors will answer software or hardware questions, but they are restricted from teaching applications or completing your work. Hours of operation change depending on the time of year but are generally open most days of the week from as early as 8:00 a.m. to as late as midnight. If you are unsure about the hours or want to know more details, feel free to call the lab.

In the Fall and Winter semester, for the six weeks during the exam period, lab hours are extended to 24 hours a day. Each term, the hours are posted on the CCS web site at: http://www.ryerson.ca/ccs/resources/labs/hours/.

Academic Computing remote labs (KHE377, KHW379, LIB393, and LIB386L) offer phone support.

Before calling for help, make sure you checked this document or specific application user’s guides. Have these available when you make a call or inquiry, and advisors can assist promptly and efficiently.

Help for the multimedia lab (KHW71A) and KHW71B is limited. Your best resource for help with complex and specialized software, like Catia is your instructor.

The CCS Help Desk offers help to staff and faculty from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Call 416-979-5000 ext. 6806.
