Connecting Securely

Connecting Securing Off Campus

There are several options available for securely connecting to Ryerson from off campus. If you are setting up your computer at home, you can install SAM*, Rocket, or RU-VPN. These will allow you access to application websites that need to be secured. Also, if you need to login into a Unix server such as turing.acs.ryerson.ca, malthus.acs.ryerson.ca or stw.ryerson.ca you can use the SSH Client to transfer your files.

Eduroam is available if you are planning on visiting another University. Many universities have collaborated to allow internet access using your university credentials, at Ryerson it is your my.ryerson account and password. Finally, we offer some Dial-up access via a modem. These are limited so if you need consistent access please look into getting an ISP (Internet Service Provider).

**Note: Any user currently using SAM to connect will be able to do so until their certificate expires. SAM will be supported by CCS until February 28, 2011. If you need a secure access method please request an RU-VPN ID from the Getting an RU-VPN ID section.
