ACCELERATING DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY ADOPTION IN CANADIAN COMPANIES (ADOPT-IT)

Based out of the Ted Rogers School of Management's Institute for Innovation and Technology Management (IITM) at Ryerson University, Adopt-IT is a ground-breaking two-year project focused on advancing the adoption of new and innovative Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in multiple sectors of the Canadian economy:

  • Healthcare
  • Manufacturing
  • Retail
  • Hospitality
  • Transportation


The Adopt-IT project is a partnership between academic researchers from Ryerson University, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. These cross-disciplinary researchers are exploring the following Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) sectors:

  • Clouding/Context-Aware Computing
  • 3D Printing
  • Big Data
  • Mobile Technology


The aim of Adopt-IT is to better understand the barriers to technology adoption, enabling the project team to overcome these obstacles by developing methods that utilize emerging technologies creatively in various businesses. The project team has been chosen for its potential for multidisciplinary collaboration, including several academic and industry partners that can contribute social sciences and humanities-related expertise.
