The Globe's Graeme Smith headlined RJAA Annual General Meeting

Jaime Stein, Graeme Smith, Camille RossRyerson alumnus and Globe and Mail reporter Graeme Smith was the guest speaker at the Ryerson Journalism Alumni Association's Annual General meeting on January. 29 at the Ryerson School of Journalism.

Smith focused his talk on his breakthrough series, "Talking to the Taliban" and spent nearly an hour answering questions from more than 40 students and alumni attending the event. Smith has devoted more time in southern Afghanistan than any other Western journalist since the arrival of NATO forces in the region.

Hired by the Globe and Mail in 2001, the 29-year-old journalist attended Ryerson University's Journalism program from 1997 to 2001 and has quickly established himself as a leader within the industry. An award winning writer, Smith is presently working on his first book about his time in Afghanistan.
