Following in Jack Layton’s footsteps (Ryersonian)

 

Ryerson University is looking to pay tribute to the late Jack Layton by inspiring youth to follow in his footsteps.


According to politics professor and Jack Layton chair, Myer Siemiatycki, the school will launch a new young activism program this summer aimed at encouraging youth to take on leadership roles in politics and their community.

Street youth more likely to trade sex for food, shelter if they were abused as children finds new research led by Ryerson - January 24, 2013

 

 

New research led by Ryerson University suggests street youth who have been sexually abused as children tend to trade sex for basic needs such as food, shelter and clothes. The study, which is still underway, is led by psychology graduate student Danielle Schwartz, Ryerson University, in collaboration with co-authors Carolyn James, then- graduate student at York University, and Professor Trevor Hart (pictured above), director of Ryerson University's HIV Prevention Lab and the students' academic supervisor.
