Learning Abroad

An experience abroad can be one of the most rewarding activities you engage in during your academic career. Learning abroad provides you with unique opportunities for self-discovery and personal growth and for strengthening and gaining a greater understanding of cultural diversity and international issues.

There are many ways to see and understand the world, including through an exchange or study abroad program or by volunteering or working overseas. It can be a lot of hard work to find an international experience that's right for you and, at times the process is, by its nature confusing and complex. But it is well worth the effort!

Here are ways that you can get started:

  • Learn about the differences between our Exchange Program versus Study Abroad program
  • Register for a Learning Abroad Information Session to learn about your options as a Faculty of
    Arts student.
  • Consider volunteering overseas. There are hundreds of organizations that offer short-term international experiences. Not all of them work with the best interests of communities and participants in mind, so do your research. Stumped? Contact the Student Experience Centre for guidance.
  • Consider working abroad. It takes a lot of effort, coordination and planning, but Working Abroad can be an amazing experience.  Learn more about your options here.
