I Made My Mark
Are you MAKING A MARK in your community?

Are you active in the Ryerson community?
(for example, through Tri-Mentoring, your Course Union, Th?nk Wear, curricular or co-curricular Service Learning, or other student groups)
Are you contributing to your local community through volunteer or paid work?
(for example, through VAST, ANYbuddy or other organizations)
Are you supporting an international community through volunteer or paid work?
(for example, Alternative Spring Break or other international opportunities)
If you are, we want to hear from YOU!
What is the I Made My Mark Expo?
The I Made My Mark Expo (I3ME)—a Faculty of Arts sponsored event—profiles Faculty of Arts students and the amazing contributions they are making (and have made) to the community, whether that be at Ryerson, a local, or an international community. The Expo aims to showcase how extraordinary Faculty of Arts students are, and raise awareness about the different ways students are “making their mark” beyond the classrooms. The purpose of this Expo is to make students, faculty, and staff aware of the contributions Faculty of Arts students are making to the community, and why it is important.

How does it work?
Please submit a thoughtful application. The I3ME Committee will review all applications and, if successful, draw a memorable quote from your application (no more than 2-3 sentences), so think about what you would like to say. This quote will be printed on a large, personalized poster (together with a photograph of your-self). At the Expo, your profile photo and your memorable quote will be displayed at the Atrium (you will be asked for a photo at a later point). Everyone in the Ryerson community as well as community partners will be invited to the Expo. You will be asked to talk to guests about your experience and how you’re making your mark. Please note, you DO NOT have to give a formal presentation—you’re just asked to casually talk to guests who approach you or your “profile.”
What will the Expo look like?
The event itself will be a standing reception at the Atrium, where guests can mingle among the “Hall of Fame” (YOU!). Every student accepted to the I3M Expo will have to be present to talk to such guests as students, community partners, professors, Chairs, Deans, and the President (the Expo is a great place for you to network!).
Who is eligible?
You must be an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Arts* and be able to demonstrate community commitment through community service or work. *(ACS, Criminal Justice, Geographic Analysis, International Economics and Finance, Criminal Justice, Politics and Governance, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, and Undeclared Arts)
When will the I3ME be held?
For the 2011-2012 academic year, the I3ME will be held sometime in the week of February 6th from 4pm-6pm. Exact date to be confirmed.
Interested?
If you are interested in showcasing how YOU made/make a mark in the community, please complete the application and leave it in the drop-box outside POD 344 by Friday, November 11th at noon.
