The Liberal Studies Council invites all Ryerson Departments/Schools to submit proposals for new liberal studies courses. Proposals must comply with the content and writing requirements for lower- and upper-level liberal studies courses, as outlined in Ryerson's policies. As per Policy #14, professionally- related courses cannot be used as liberal studies.
Please refer to the "Guidelines for 2018 Liberal Studies Course Proposals" for detailed information on developing a new liberal studies course (see below link). Course proposals must be submitted by Monday, May 29, 2017 for inclusion in the Fall 2018 liberal studies curriculum.
Liberal studies course proposals are first reviewed by the Liberal Studies Curriculum Committee, which meets in June and September. This sub-committee of the Liberal Studies Council assesses proposed courses in detail, according to the criteria outlined in the Liberal Studies Guidelines. The Curriculum Committee provides course proposers with initial feedback, along with their recommendations for changes to the course outline. In September, the Liberal Studies Council evaluates the revised course proposals and makes its recommendations to Senate, for final approval.
When a course is added to the liberal studies table, it is expected that the course will be offered.
