Drawn to the Department of History’s leading historians and award-winning lecturers, Mark discovered a true buzz around campus.
Right from his first semester, Mark felt welcomed and supported in his jump into university life. For Mark, it wasn’t just discovering gems as he combed through an amazing roster of course selections. It was also the breadth of opportunities available for students to get involved outside of the lecture hall.
Mark’s participation with one of Ryerson’s best-known and largest lecture series, the International Issues Discussion Series, allowed him to meet leading authorities on contemporary global issues. Interacting with diplomats, filmmakers, and war correspondents added to the invaluable experience of not only the study of history, but also the attempt to better understand the topics that affect us all today.
Mark relishes the growth he made as a student and as a world citizen.
Mark is the winner of several awards, including the Doug Webb Award in History, the Best Essay Prize in History, and the Faculty of Arts' J. D. Hague Memorial Award for community involvement.
