Dr. Marie Killeen
Assistant Professor
BSc (University College Galway, Ireland); MSc (York University); PhD (University of Toronto); PDF (Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute, Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto)
Teaching Interests:
Developmental Biology; biotechnology; genomics; genetics; human anatomy and physiology; molecular biology.
Research Interests:
My research interest is the elucidation of the molecules and mechanisms involved in the establishment of a functional nervous system during development. My group is using the microscopic nematode C. elegans as an animal model to find new axon outgrowth and guidance molecules and to understand their functions in both worms and higher organisms using tools that include genetics, molecular biology, microscopy and biochemistry.
