UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM CALENDAR 2002-2003

JOURNALISM

Administered by the School of Journalism

DEGREE: Four years of study following OAC graduation.

ADMISSION: O.S.S.D. with six OAC credits including English OAC 1. Candidates will be screened on the basis of their overall OAC average (i.e. six OAC credits or equivalent).

NOTES: 1- Preference will be given to candidates who have obtained a minimum overall average of 70 percent (i.e. six OAC credits or equivalent) and with a grade of 70 percent or higher in English OAC 1.

2- A minimum keyboarding skill of 30 words per minute is required.

3- Qualified applicants are required to answer a questionnaire on their journalism and life experience and provide a brief autobiographical sketch. A portfolio of published work is encouraged. Instructions will be sent by mail after academic assessment.

4- Admission requirements for students presenting courses from the New Ontario Secondary School Curriculum, are outlined in the Admission Requirements for Graduates of the New Ontario High School Curriculum Table of this calendar.

5- Subject to competition, candidates are usually required to present averages above the minimum.

PROGRAM FOR UNIVERSITY GRADUATES: Two years of study following university.

ADMISSION: Students holding bachelor degrees from accredited English language universities May apply for admission. Screening procedures are as outlined above.

1- University graduates are required to answer a questionnaire on their journalism and life experience. This will be sent by mail.

2- A brief autobiographical sketch of not more than 250 words is required. A portfolio of published work is also encouraged. Instructions will be sent by mail after academic assessment.
