CONTINUING EDUCATION DIVISION
The Division of Continuing Education extends educational opportunities to students and adults who wish to continue their education or upgrade their professional skills on a part-time basis. The programming strengths of the Division are reflected in its 72 certificate programs and more than 1,000 courses, seminars and workshops offered yearly in a diverse range of subject areas. Continuing Education instructors come from the University's schools and departments, as well as from Toronto's business, cultural, and academic communities who bring professional experience and teaching expertise to the classroom.
Many of the courses offered through the Continuing Education Division are degree credit and may be used for advanced standing, if admission is secured, to many of our part-time and full-time degree programs. All certificates require an academic background of OSSD with six OAC or Grade 12 U or M courses, or equivalent, or mature student status.
The Division is committed to developing new delivery models to increase accessibility of our programs. We continue to respond to community needs by offering the degree level courses for nurses at regional access centres throughout southern Ontario.
The number of courses offered during the Spring and Summer terms continue to increase, and in response to student demand, we have increased the number of week-long intensive courses and weekend programming.
Continuing Education offers programming through Distance Education. Over 100 courses are available on the Internet, in print, and on audio cassette. For more information, visit the Distance Education web site at
http://ce-online.ryerson.ca/ce/de or call 416-979-5035.
Continuing Education Division has been highly successful in developing corporate-university partnerships to enable the delivery of customized degree level education either within the workplace or on campus. Staff from professional and executive development are always pleased to meet with external organizations to identify learning needs and develop creative, relevant educational opportunities.
Continuing Education students are important to the University and have access to the Ryerson Library, laboratories, and support services including career planning and study skills workshops, career services workshops and access to the in-house services offered by the Career Centre, and tutor support. For those students who lack prerequisite requirements for admission to Ryerson degree or certificate programs we offer many Academic Bridging Courses to enable students to upgrade in specific areas.
