GRADUATION AND CONVOCATION
Degrees, diplomas and certificates are awarded to students who successfully complete programs as prescribed by Academic Council. Convocation exercises will take place in the Spring and Fall of each year as set out in "Significant Dates". Please note it is the student's responsibility to ensure that all courses required for graduation have been successfully completed and that they make formal application to graduate during their graduating semester or year at Admissions/Liaison/Curriculum Advising.
Deadlines for completion of applications to graduate are outlined under Significant Dates. The late fee for applications to graduate is $40 (subject to change and non-refundable). Students may withdraw their application to graduate - see "Significant Dates" for applicable deadlines.
NOTE: NO APPLICATIONS TO GRADUATE WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE FINAL DEADLINE DATE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ANY DATE STAMPED COPY OF AN APPLICATION, VERIFYING SUBMISSION OF THE APPLICATION PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE DATE.
There is an administrative charge of $15 (subject to change) for each graduating student attending Convocation, payable at the time of Convocation. There is an administrative charge of $15 (subject to change) for those students graduating in absentia (graduating students who do not attend Convocation) payable before graduation documents can be picked up or mailed.
Documents will be destroyed four months following convocation. Documents may be re-issued with a $70 (subject to change) fee. Should a student complete, prior to graduation, the requirements for two options/majors of the same degree program, the options/majors will be reflected on the academic record. Depending on the program, it may also be recorded on the academic award. Such students must first obtain permission, as well as a program of study, from the program department concerned and must indicate the request for a double option/major on the Application to Graduate.
For degree recipients, minors will not be indicated on the graduation document, but will be recorded on the official transcript. Depending on the program, the major/option may be recorded on the academic award, however, the majority of majors/options are only reflected on the academic record.
Graduates who wish to have their original graduation document revised or replaced should complete a Reissue Request form, available at Admissions/Liaison/Curriculum Advising. The fee for replacement of the graduation document is $70 (subject to change).
Students who either have outstanding debts in excess of $5 (subject to change) or have equipment, cage cards, and/or library books overdue as of the final date to clear their record for graduation, will receive a Withhold Notice in lieu of their graduation award at the relevant convocation ceremony.
