DEPARTMENT OF SOCIOLOGY
The Department of Sociology offers a variety of courses to program departments throughout Ryerson and in the Division of Continuing Education. These courses are designed to encourage students to critically examine our increasingly complex and changing world. In some program departments sociology is undertaken as a required complement to the student's career studies; in other programs it appears as an elective choice with the intention of broadening the student's understanding of the social context in which they will function as professionals and as citizens. The department offers a minor in Sociology (see Minors Policy Section of this calendar), administers Caribbean Studies courses, and is also home to the Media Studies Working Group and the Centre for Studies in Food Security.
