CHEMICAL ENGINEERING CO-OPERATIVEAdministered by the Department of Chemical Engineering
The Chemical Engineering BEng Co-operative Degree Program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board.
DEGREE: Eight four-month academic terms of study and five four-month work terms following Grade 12 U/M or OAC graduation. The sequence of academic and work terms is shown below.
ADMISSION: O.S.S.D. with six Grade 12 U/M or OAC courses, including the following:
NEW CURRICULUM: Grade 12 U courses in: English, Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus (MCB4U), Geometry and Discrete Mathematics (MGA4U), Physics (SPH4U) and Chemistry (SCH4U).
OLD CURRICULUM: OAC courses in: English, Calculus, Algebra & Geometry, Physics and Chemistry.
NOTES:
1- ENG4U/EAE4U or English/Anglais OAC 1 is the preferred English.
2- Ryerson will allow the mixing of U, M and OAC courses as applicable but comparable courses will not be double-counted. As well, Ryerson will not accept the “out of school” component of Grade 12 U/M co-op courses for admission consideration.
3- For the new Ontario Curriculum, if both U and M courses are offered in a particular discipline, the U course must be taken.
4- The required minimum overall average is 70 percent; however, higher overall averages will be required due to the competitive nature of the program. The minimum grade in each of the Calculus and Physics prerequisite courses, which is normally in the 65-70 percent range, will be determined by the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science subject to competition.
