REGISTRATION PROCEDURES E-MAIL ACCOUNT POLICYAll students in full- and part-time undergraduate degree programs (as well as Diploma in Arts students), are required to activate and maintain a Ryerson University central Matrix e-mail account, which shall be an official means by which they will receive University communications.
Procedures for student activation and use, as well as the Ryerson Student Computing Guidelines, are available on the Ryerson University Computing and Communication Services web site: www.ccs.ryerson.ca/students. Under the section ‘Services’, select e-mail.
NEWLY-APPROVED PROGRAM STUDENTSNew students will be provided with detailed registration information outlining the procedures they must follow. General information on registration may be obtained from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions/Liaison/Curriculum Advising. Newly-approved students who have paid their tuition fees, must pick up their timetables during the specified time during Registration Week. Students who do not do so, cannot be guaranteed space in their program unless special written permission has been given.
Students are academically and financially responsible for all courses and charges that accrue as a result of the Course Request period, or the Registration period, unless the Registration and Records Office is notified in writing. Non-attendance/non-payment is not acceptable for the removal of courses and fee charges.
RETURNING-PROGRAM STUDENTSReturning students registered in degree and diploma programs are required to complete a Course Request Form in February for the following Fall and Winter terms.
Returning eligible students who completed a Course Request Form will receive a timetable indicating the courses in which they are registered. Students who did not complete a Course Request Form, and who return to register in the following Fall and Winter terms, will be charged a $50 (subject to change) Premium Registration fee. There is no guarantee that space will be available in courses. Students normally will not be allowed to register for courses unless they have passed the immediate prerequisite or other prior level courses within the previous three academic years. Students with outstanding financial accounts from previous years will be prohibited from further registration, until satisfactory payment arrangements have been made.

GENERAL REGISTRATION INFORMATION1. Students are responsible for ensuring that the course(s) in which they register is correct and appropriate to their degree program and will meet the requirements for graduation. Students must remember that they are financially and academically responsible for each course they register in.
2. Courses within a program are grouped into semester or year levels. Students who do not take courses within a single semester or year grouping cannot be guaranteed a complete timetable.
3. Course offerings in Elective Groups may vary from term to term. All courses in any one Elective Group, listed in a particular program, may not necessarily be offered in all terms.
4. All course registration adjustments must be authorized by the student’s program department, and must be initiated by the dates listed in this Calendar. Students are permitted to make course changes to their registration records during the Registration Week and the first week of classes each term.
5. Course/Section Confirmation: Students have full access to the Registrar’s Office website (www.ryerson.ca/rows) to verify their courses and sections in which they are registered. Students are required to verify this information by the end of the first month of the term. Students are required to make any necessary corrections with their program department within two weeks. A $100 (subject to change) Addition to Registration Record fee will be levied for each course or grade added to a student’s registration after the following dates: Fall term - October 31st, Winter term - February 28th. Students are academically and financially responsible for all courses on their course request, unless they make corrections by the designated deadline.
6. Students wishing to drop courses without academic penalty should consult the “Significant Dates” section of this Calendar for deadline dates. Students must obtain permission from their program department/school.
7. Courses Not Counted/Course Replacement: Students are required to advise the Registration and Records Office at the time of registration, of courses which are being substituted for previously failed courses, or of courses which are not to be calculated in their current grade point average.
8. Students will obtain final grades at the end of term only for those courses in which they are officially registered. The onus is on the students to ensure that they are officially registered for courses being taken. A $15 (subject to change) search fee per course will be charged if students have not registered properly but have attended classes. There is no guarantee that grades will be found by this search.
9. Program Change/Curriculum Substitution: Students are required to complete the curriculum for their program as set out in this Calendar. Any requests for curriculum/course substitutions or other modifications to program requirements must be approved by the Chair of both the appropriate program and teaching departments. Curriculum Substitution forms are available from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions/Liaison/Curriculum Advising. Failure to obtain written permission on the appropriate form and within the established deadline will result in ineligibility to graduate.
School of Business Management
1. Full-time students are limited to a maximum of seven credit courses per semester, including Continuing Education courses. Exceptions may be made only with the prior approval of the School of Business Management.
