UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM CALENDAR 2004-2005

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT

Administered by the School of Information Technology Management

DEGREE: In the regular program: 8 four-month academic terms of study following Grade 12 U/M or OAC graduation. In the optional co-op program: 8 four-month academic terms of study and 5 four-month work terms following Grade 12 U/M or OAC graduation. Also offered on a part-time study basis.

ADMISSION: O.S.S.D. with six Grade 12 U/M or OAC courses including the following:

NEW CURRICULUM: Grade 12 U courses in: English and Mathematics (one of Geometry and Discrete Mathematics (MGA4U) or Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus (MCB4U), or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U) with a minimum grade of 60 percent or higher in each of these courses.

OLD CURRICULUM: OAC courses in: English and Mathematics (one of OAC Calculus, Algebra & Geometry or Finite Mathematics) with a minimum grade of 60 percent or higher in each of these courses.

NOTES:

1- ENG4U/EAE4U or English/Anglais OAC 1 is the preferred English.

2- Preference may be given to those who obtain 65 percent or higher in the OAC English and Mathematics subjects.

3- Competence in keyboarding and some experience with computer applications is recommended.

4- Ryerson will allow the mixing of U, M and OAC courses as applicable but comparable courses will not be double-counted. As well, Ryerson will not accept the “out of school” component of Grade 12 U/M co-op courses for admission consideration.

5- Subject to competition, candidates may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum.

Full-time students admitted 2004-2005 participate in the ITM Learning EDGE intiative. This inovative teaching environment will benefit all students, but will have the greatest impact on full-time students. In the first three years of the program, students will be required to pay a non-tuition related ancillary fee for a university-defined notebook computer and software to participate in the program. PROGRAM FOR (CAAT) BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DIPLOMA GRADUATES

The School of Information Technology Management will accept graduates of three-year Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) Business Administration diplomas. Students may complete the degree through full-or part-time evening studies by completing 22 courses in as little as four semesters combining day and part-time evening courses.

Due to the accelerated nature of all options, students may have difficulties accessing some electives due to prerequisites. Plan courses carefully prior to degree entry. One may consider taking some required courses during the Spring/Summer regular semesters. Please contact the School to obtain information on course planning.

ADVANCED STANDING PROGRAMS FOR GRADUATES OF AN APPROVED (CAAT) BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION DIPLOMA SPECIALIZING IN COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OR TELECOMMUNICATIONS.

The School of Information Technology Management will accept graduates of three year approved Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology (CAAT) diplomas with a specialization in Computer Programming, Information Technology or Telecommuncations to the third year of the program. Students may complete this program through full- or part-time evening studies. Students must complete all courses in third and fourth year. Depending on previous preparation some substitutions may be allowed. Due to the accelerated nature of all degree programs, students may have difficulties accessing some electives due to prerequisites. Plan courses carefully prior to degree entry. One may consider taking some required courses during the Spring/Summer semesters. Please contact the School to obtain information on course planning.

ADMISSION INFORMATION

Admission Guidelines

A CAAT Diploma in Business Administration with a minimum cumulative average of “B” (3.00). There is a limited number of spaces available, therefore admission is generally based on the grade point average earned for the diploma.
