EXAMINATIONS

1. Final examinations may be held at the end of each term for one-term courses, or in April for two-term courses. The final Examination Schedule will be available on the Registrar’s Office Web Services (ROWS) site (www.ryerson.ca/rows) approximately one month prior to each examination period.

2. Should students discover conflicts in their examination schedules, they should report them immediately to their program department for resolution.

3. Students are responsible for presenting themselves at the place of examination on the scheduled day and hour. Examinations may commence as early as 8 a.m. Examinations may be held on Saturdays or during the evening.

4. At all final examinations, students must be prepared to identify themselves with their Ryerson Photo Identification card. For students who do not have a Photo ID card, for whatever reason, Registration and Records will provide a temporary ID card for a particular exam, but students are responsible for obtaining replacement ID cards.

5. Absence from Final Examination. A student who claims illness or compassionate grounds for missing a final examination may apply for academic consideration. Application is made at Registration and Records on the prescribed Aegrotat Grade form and within the time period specified in the list of Significant Dates in this calendar. Documentation in support of the request must be included with the application. It is recommended that students use the Ryerson Student Medical Certificate available on the Registrar’s Office Web Services (ROWS) site to accompany the Aegrotat Grade application form.

6. Situations regarding Academic Misconduct during examinations are covered in detail under the Student Conduct Code, (full documentation is available at your program/school, in the Ryerson Student Guide, or on the Academic Council web site (www.ryerson.ca/acadcouncil/policies.html).

7. Due to final exam period time constraints, Ryerson finds it necessary to schedule final exams Monday to Saturdays. Students with religious observance obligations on a date that a final exam is scheduled should utilize the policy “Accommodation of Student Religious Observance Obligations” outlined in this calendar to make alternative arrangements.

8. It is strongly recommended that all students read the full University Examination Policy which is found at http://www.ryerson.ca/acadcouncil/policies.html

Academic Consideration: A student who, because of illness or compassionate considerations cannot do prescribed term work or cannot complete it by the prescribed deadline, should request academic consideration from the faculty concerned. The faculty may require verification of the circumstances on which the request is based. It is recommended that students use the Ryerson Student Medical Certificate available on the Registrar’s Office Web Services (ROWS) site to accompany the Aegrotat Grade application form.
