UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM CALENDAR 2004-2005 | |||
BACHELOR OF INTERIOR DESIGNAdministered by the School of Interior Design
DEGREE: Four years of study following Grade 12 U/M or OAC graduation. Accredited by FIDER (Foundation for Interior Design Education Research).
ADMISSION: O.S.S.D. with six Grade 12 U/M or OAC courses including the following:
NEW CURRICULUM: Grade 12 U English, Grade 11 U or M or Grade 12 U Mathematics (one of MCF3M, MCR3U, MCB4U, MGA4U, MDM4U), and one additional Grade 12 U or M course from: Visual Arts (AVI4M), Economics: Analyzing Current Economic Issues (CIA4U), Canadian & World Issues: A Geographical Analysis (CGW4U), Canada: History, Identity and Culture (CHI4U), Physics (SPH4U), Communications Technology (TGJ4M) or Technological Design (TDJ4M). Other Grade 12 U or M courses in Canadian & World Issues may be considered on an individual basis. A minimum grade of 60 percent or higher is required in each course.
OLD CURRICULUM: OAC courses in: English and one of the following: History, Art History, Geography, Economics, Sociology, or Family Studies and an advanced level Grade 12 Mathematics with a minimum grade of 60 percent or higher in each course.NOTES:
1- ENG4U/EAE4U or English/Anglais OAC 1 is the preferred English.
2- Students should select Physics (Grade 11 or higher) and the Art option in Grades 11 and 12 if available.
3- Preference may be given to students who have included History, or Visual Arts/Art History in their Grade 12 U/M or OAC studies.
4- A portfolio submission will be required, as noted below, and will be used with the applicant’s academic performance in the admission process. An interview with faculty may be required. Further information regarding the portfolio will be sent to the applicant, by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, as part of the admissions selection process.
5- Ryerson will allow the mixing of U, M and OAC courses as applicable but comparable courses will not be double-counted. As well, Ryerson will not accept the “out of school” component of Grade 12 U/M co-op courses for admission consideration.
6- Subject to competition, candidates may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum.
