UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM CALENDAR 2004-2005 | ||
URBAN AND REGIONAL PLANNINGAdministered by the School of Urban and Regional Planning
DEGREE: Four years of study following Grade 12 U/M or OAC graduation. Recognized by The Canadian Institute of Planners and the Ontario Professional Planners Institute.
ADMISSION: O.S.S.D. with six Grade 12 U/M or OAC courses including the following:
NEW CURRICULUM: Grade 12 U English with a minimum grade of 60 percent or higher.
OLD CURRICULUM: O.S.S.D. with six OAC credits, including OAC English with a minimum grade of 60 percent or higher.
NOTES:
1- ENG4U/EAE4U or English/Anglais OAC 1 is the preferred English.
2- Applicants may be required to participate in an on-campus session as part of the admissions selection process. This session is by invitation only. Applicants residing more than 250 km from Ryerson, will be invited to complete an alternative process.
3- Students are encouraged to include Grade 12 U or M courses in the Social Sciences & the Humanities (HFA4M, HHS4M, HHG4M, HSB4M, HZT4U) and/or Economics (CIA4U) and U courses in Canadian & World Studies (CGW4U, CGU4U, CHI4U, CHY4U, CLN4U, CPW4U), Science (SBI4U, SCH4U, SPH4U, SES4U) and/or Mathematics (MCB4U, MGA4U, MDM4U).
4- Ryerson will allow the mixing of U, M and OAC courses as applicable but comparable courses will not be double-counted. As well, Ryerson will not accept the “out of school” component of Grade 12 U/M co-op courses for admission consideration.
5- Subject to competition, candidates may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum.
TWO YEAR POST-BACCALAUREATE DEGREE PROGRAM
Commencing Fall 2004, the School will offer a new two-year post-baccalaureate program leading to a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURPl). Admission requirements include completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited English language university including a minimum of six liberal studies (liberal arts and sciences) courses. Students interested in pursuing this option should consider including courses in: microeconomics, ecology, sociology and politics in their first degree program.
TWO YEAR DEGREE COMPLETION PROGRAM
Commencing Fall 2004, the School will offer a new degree completion program leading to a Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURPl) degree. Admission requirements include completion of a diploma program in Urban and Regional Planning Technology from Mohawk or Fanshawe Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology with a minimum of a “B” average overall.
Additional Requirements for Both Two Year Programs
Qualified applicants must successfully complete a 75 hour, three week summer intensive block course (CPLG 320) which will be offered through Continuing Education each August beginning in 2004. Students must complete CPLG 320 in the summer prior to their entry into the program. The course description for CPLG 320 is the same as PLG 320 found in this calendar.
