COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES

Ryerson Computing and Communications Services (CCS) supports information technology among the academic and administrative communities.

All students in full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate degree programs (as well as Diploma in Arts students) are required to activate and maintain a Ryerson University central Matrix email account which shall be an official means by which they will receive University communications.

Information on activating email and other computer accounts is available in the student section of www.ryerson.ca/ccs.

Ryerson has established an academic computing environment with advanced hardware, software, and support services. Instructional and research computing services are provided to faculty and students through the Matrix system, which comprises several powerful UNIX computers, and over four hundred networked general purpose, scientific, engineering, and multimedia workstations.

A wide assortment of software packages is available on Matrix, including third and fourth generation programming languages, statistics packages, database management and communications products. Matrix also serves as Ryerson’s central Internet link, providing services such as electronic mail, news and discussion groups, computer conferencing, remote computing, information retrieval and multimedia publications.
