It is the responsibility of all applicants to ensure that the following are received by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions as applicable.
Officially certified academic transcripts including promotion/graduation status (one copy for each program applied to) of the applicant’s complete educational background (secondary and post-secondary) must be provided (whether or not the program of study was successfully completed) when completing an application for admission.
Transcripts must show the individual marks or grades achieved in each course or subject taken. (Students must have successfully completed a minimum of one full secondary school course at the required level in each of the subject prerequisites listed for the programs for which they wish to be considered.) Applicants are advised to submit officially certified copies (official academic transcripts), rather than originals, since Ryerson cannot return documents, portfolios, essays, etc. Copies of course descriptions/teaching outlines for post-secondary courses must be submitted for advanced standing/transfer credit assessment. Please note that course descriptions/teaching outlines are not kept once a credit/admission decision is made. Students are encouraged to keep a copy of all course descriptions/teaching outlines for their records.
NOTE: Transcripts and all other supporting documentation submitted to Ryerson will not and cannot be returned to the applicant.
All statements on the application must be correct and complete. Applicants withholding, misrepresenting or failing to provide information are liable to have their application/enrollment cancelled.
NOTES:
- Grades for current Ontario secondary school students will be submitted to the OUAC by their Guidance Office. However, if students apply after June 1, it is their responsibility to forward officially certified transcripts/grades directly to the Ryerson Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the OUAC. It is also their responsibility to ensure that their Guidance Office, the OUAC, and the Ryerson Office of Undergraduate Admissions are notified of any plans to upgrade/complete course(s) through night school, summer school, or correspondence studies; and receive final grades for the course(s). (See “APPLICATION/SELECTION INFORMATION” section.)
- Ontario universities and Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology have implemented a system, whereby officially certified transcripts can be requested and received electronically. Refer to the OUAC 105 Application Package/Compass On-Line Service for further detailed information.
- International students: Applicants are required to submit officially certified academic transcripts of all secondary and post-secondary studies, including promotion/graduation status, directly to Ryerson’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, giving their program choice and Student ID/Reference Number (from the OUAC form). Studies that meet the minimum academic requirements for admission must be completed at the time of the application submission. If the documents are in a language other than English, applicants must also provide notarized literal English translations (see “NON-CANADIAN EDUCATION” section).
- Proof of change of name (i.e. marriage certificate, notarized statement or other legal document) must be provided if academic documents show a name other than that under which application is made.
- Evidence of proficiency in English must be provided, if English is not the applicant’s first language (see “ENGLISH LANGUAGE” section).
- Applicants who have indicated on their application that they are in Canada on a “Study Permit” or “Temporary Resident Visa” must submit a copy of their Visa authorization form or “immigration papers” confirming this status.
- All documents are routinely verified. Evidence of falsified documents will result in applicants not being allowed to attend the University. Information on falsified documents is shared with the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC).
