HOME ADMISSION PROCEDURES AND POLICIES MATURE STUDENTS

MATURE STUDENTS

Applicants who do not possess the minimum admission requirements are eligible to be considered for admission, if they:

  1. are twenty-one (21) years of age by December 31st of the year in which they will commence studies;
  2. have been away from formal education for at least two years;
  3. are Canadian citizens or permanent residents, or are sponsored by a Canadian governmental agency;
  4. can present tangible evidence of ability to cope with the program at Ryerson and have completed, with at least 60 percent or higher, all subject prerequisite(s) or equivalent, required for individual program admission.
Subject to competition, candidates may be required to present averages/grades above the minimum. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for detailed information.

In support of their application, it is recommended that applicants submit a letter outlining:

  • why they have chosen this program;
  • career ambitions/career goals;
  • past work experience.

Admission of Applicants 60 years of Age or Over

Applicants 60 years of age or over, by December 31st of the year of application, presenting proof of age following regular admissions procedures, may become full-time or part-time, special, or auditor students without paying application or tuition fees.
