THE INTERNATIONAL LIVING LEARNING CENTRE

The International Living Learning Centre (ILLC) was built in 1987 as a 300-suite hotel and acquired by Ryerson in 1993, making it a natural home for the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management and Retail Management. The ILLC residence offers three foodservice outlets.  Students, faculty and staff are welcome to the cozy and comfortable Maggie's Eatery feature a variety of self-help quality food stations and a wide selection of grill menu options.  Enjoy your lunch in a casual dining atmosphere where cuisine of our Chef specialties is offered at the International Cafe.  Also, the popular After 7 Lounge, an ideal place for friend to meet in the evening for late night snacks, fresh made waffles, milk shakes, desserts and more.  Student cards (Ryerson One Card) are accepted at all food outlets.

Highlighting the ILLC facility is a  200-seat International Conference Room as well as two 45-seat multi-tech classrooms. Faculty and administrative offices are located on the second floor of the building ensuring that the professors and support staff are close at hand to offer guidance and consultation.

Equally important, the ILLC provides residence space for the Ryerson students during the September through April period. There are 252 single rooms with lounges and kitchens located on each of the nine residence floors. Students enrolled in the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management are given preference for residence accommodation. During the May through August period the facility operates as a 252-suite conference hotel.

This combination of living learning space creates many exciting opportunities for Hospitality and Tourism Management students. All students early in the program are provided with on-the-job instruction and a community service training period within the facility. This training occurs in the second or third semester of the program. Once trained for specific job functions, many students can capitalize on the year round employment opportunities offered by the ILLC. These include positions within the food services, catering, front desk, housekeeping, security and administrative departments.

The International Living Learning Centre is located at 133 Mutual Street in the East end of the Ryerson campus.
