Garbage, Recycling and Shredding

Members of the Ryerson community are expected to take their office or desk recycling materials to the recycling depots located on each floor. Custodial staff services the recycling stations weekly in all campus buildings ensuring that they are emptied, clean and free from odours.

Both the garbage and recycling programs use the services of an external contractor to remove waste and recycled materials from campus. Records of quantities and waste types are maintained to promote the recycling program and to meet legislated reporting requirements.

Shredding is performed as requested. Community members may submit a request for shredding through the online Service Request Form or by calling the Help Desk at ext. 5091. A recycling tote will then be delivered to your area. Once the materials have been loaded into the tote, a Custodial worker will remove the tote to a secure area for shredding.

Custodial Services has implemented a battery / cell phone / PDA recycling project. Disposal bins are placed at appropriate locations around the campus. To find out more about the program and the locations of disposal bins, please go to the battery recycling page.
