Campus Update:

On Thursday, August 25 at approximately 2 p.m., Ryerson Security received a report of two non-community members who were intoxicated near the entrance to Jorgenson Hall at 380 Victoria Street.

Responding security staff asked both individuals to pack-up and leave. As the men were packing up their belongings, security spotted an item that appeared to be a firearm. In keeping with university protocols, security staff called the police.

Toronto Police Services arrived immediately and took one individual into custody.

Toronto Police later advised that the item in question was an “airsoft gun” – a type of imitation firearm – and as a result, no charges were laid.
