The best time to host an Information Session or Table in a High Traffic Area is generally from mid September to late October, and from early January to mid March. The Career Development and Employment Centre can assist you in selecting a date & time that will minimize scheduling conflicts with the student population you wish to target.

Where do I find more information about Wage Subsidies?

Sometimes finding the time and money to hire youth can be a challenge. Both the Ontario Government and The Government of Canada sponsor programs and services designed to help employers hire a youth.

    Access information on wage subsidy programs and internships, recruitment tools and employer services designed to help you hire youth. It is available online or by calling the Youth Info Line at: 1-800-935-5555
  • Ontario Youth for Hire Hotline
    The Ontario Government has a hotline for employers interested in learning more about the wage subsidy programs to help them hire youth. Call 1-416-952-HIRE to speak with a representative.
  • HRDC-Human Resource Office for Employers
    This a federal government site that includes information about subsidies, recruiting and employment standards.
  • Tax Credits for Hiring Co-op and Internship Students
    Funding support for hiring co-op students.

How do I hire a Co-op, Intern or Practical Placement Student?

Ryerson University has always placed a great deal of emphasis on industry-gained work experience which develops students during their education to produce employment ready, industry-realistic graduates. A wide variety of Co-op, Internship, Work study, and Placement programs are available in relation to the majority of Ryerson Program offerings. Wage requirements, lengths of placements and criteria of review and selection for these programs vary greatly and it is best to contact the program directly.
