Web Conferencing

Web conferencing is a service that allows conferencing events to be shared with remote locations. The service allows information to be shared simultaneously, across geographically spread locations in nearly real-time using the web. Applications for web conferencing include meetings, training events, lectures, or short presentations from any computer.



Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect is a web communication system enriched with interactive presentation tools and discussion & collaboration capabilities. For more information about this product, please visit Adobe Connect website.

Using Adobe Connect software, audio and video components as well as chat, sharing and annotating can be added to any event. Recording is also an option, in case the event has to be referred to at a later date.

Hosting a web conferencing session using Adobe Connect

Login to Adobe Connect at http://connect.ryerson.ca using your my.ryerson user ID and password.

In order to create or host a meeting you will need to have a special role which can be obtained by submitting an on-line request form. Once the special access is created, you may visit the Resources tab to access Getting Started section and choose one of the following:

Participate in a web conferencing session

  • Receive an invitation: The first step is to receive an invitation to an Adobe Connect meeting with date, time, and may be a passcode
  • Join in a meeting: At the right date and time, click the link you received in invitation email to join in a meeting as a participant. If you do not have an Adobe Connect username or password, enter as a Guest with your first and last name
  • Communicate: Communicate with others in a meeting using the features like chat box, emoticons, and web cam
