CCS Scheduled Maintenance and Outages

Preventative Maintenance includes a variety of activities necessary to keep information and technology services running, such as software patches, fixes and upgrades, hardware upgrade. Additional outages may occur as a result of unforeseen hardware or software issues. In these cases, CCS strives to provide as much notice as possible.

No alternate service will be available if a system or an application is not available due to the scheduled maintenance or outage, unless explicitly indicated in the table bellow for the particular system/application.

Apply a patch to RMS 5.4.3 which will include the following features: modify configuration used to perform D2L shell copy so that announcements are not included in the copy and add new "Auditing Participant" enrollment role to RMS Admin shell detail form.

Additional Scheduled Changes

  • Friday, June 26, 2015 between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. until completed - in progress
    VRF1 (admin), VRF2 (acad), VRF3 (departmental feeds) point-to-point connections will be moved from public IP space to private IPs. The change will be performed on all VRF enabled core/distribution/edge Avaya 8800s. No outage is expected.
  • Weekdays starting on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. - in progress
    Network switches and switch stacks will be upgraded on a continual basis throughout the Ryerson Campus.  Areas affected will be notified of outages in advance of commencement of work.

    Add new Nexsan E48 iscsi storage to VMware in DC1.
  • Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
    Move Solidworks licensing services from tsi-ACLS-03.ac to ACLS-07.ruad server.
  • Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 6 pm to midnight
    Reimage KHW71F with Windows 10. Lab will be unavailable until the upgrade is completed. 
  • Thursday, July 28, 2016 from 6:15 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
    Enable login throttling on CAS. Some clients may need to re-authenticate as services are restarted.
  • Friday, July 29, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    Increase size of CS database redo logs.
  • Friday, July 29, 2016 from 6 AM to 10 AM
    F5 Load Balancer Upgrade.  Momentary outage for each application using the load balancer. 
  • Monday, August 1, 2016 from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
    Enable self serve password reset for Office 365. Office 365 users that have not entered their alternative email or phone, will be prompted to do so on next login.
  • Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at 10 a.m.
    Decommision xpsr2.ryerson.ca (ilog2) and briggs.ccs.ryerson.ca servers.
  • Tuesday, August 2, 2016 to Tuesday, August 9, 2016
    Decommission iSCSI storage, EqualLogic EQDC2 and Nexsan e18-dc2-1 from DC2.
  • Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
    Wordfence install on blog.ryerson.ca.

 

Future/Pending Changes

  • Friday, August 5, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    Upgrade Adobe Connect Pro conferencing server from version 9.2 to 9.5. Webinar.ryerson.ca used by DE classes and information sessions for Admissions and other Ryerson departments will not be available during thisi time frame.
  • Friday, August 5, 2016 from 5 AM to 8 AM
    F5 Load Balancer Upgrade.  Momentary outage for each application using the load balancer. 
  • Wednesday, August 10, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
    Upgrade the MySQL from version 5.5.28 to 5.6.14. Appspace application will not be available during the  upgrade.
  • Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6 p.m. to Friday, August 12, 2016 at 8 a.m.
    Upgrade java, tomcat and Confluence (from 5.4.3 to 5.10.0) in production. Confluence will not be available during this time frame.
  • Monday, August 15, 2016 from 6 a.m. 9 a.m.
    ​AppSpace upgrade from version 5.5.5 to version 5.8.7. The web application will not be accessible during the upgrade.

    Add a dashboard to provide users reports and flag content issue.
