CCS Scheduled Maintenance and Outages

Preventative Maintenance includes a variety of activities necessary to keep information and technology services running, such as software patches, fixes and upgrades, hardware upgrade. Additional outages may occur as a result of unforeseen hardware or software issues. In these cases, CCS strives to provide as much notice as possible.

No alternate service will be available if a system or an application is not available due to the scheduled maintenance or outage, unless explicitly indicated in the table bellow for the particular system/application.

  • Event related component storage and UI modifications along with auto-invalidation of application cache.
  • Changes across multiple components to allow the system to manage their references.
  • Scan and modify content to remove tags used to correct this releases fix to spacing.
  • Flow layout responsive fixes to maintain consistency in display

  • Weekdays starting on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. - in progress
    Network switches and switch stacks will be upgraded on a continual basis throughout the Ryerson Campus.  Areas affected will be notified of outages in advance of commencement of work.
  • Thursday, January 26, 2017 to Thursday, February 16, 2017 - in progress
    Upgrade VMWare vSphere 5.5 to v6.0 in DC2 and migrate.
  • Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 11:59 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2017
    Run Nessus Scans on multiple servers.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 at 6 a.m.
    Network will fail over from Fall 1 to Fall 2 to facilitate testing of F5 DDoS per-VIP mitigation solution on the alternate datapath. There may be a momentary interruption to firewall sessions during the failover from one cluster member to the other.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.
    Update a popup window wording in Courses & Organizations Tab. No user impact is expected.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:30 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
    The feed for the following network stacks will be migrated to the new distribution switches: DMZ6, DMZ10. The will be approximately a one-minute outage per stack.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
    The Summer Firewall will be moved from the legacy cores to the new cores. The following subnets will be affected: Lib(7), OneCard(32), Rec&Reg(60), Exec(65), DMP(72),CSCA(213), CE(217), PCI-SalePoint(1026), BAS(1044), HealthCentre(2265), SCC(56), Arc303(214), CivilEngLab(248), RSU-Priv(1051), RSU(1700), BAS-Servers(2226). The will be approximately a three minute outage per feed.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
    Routing for the following networks will be moved from the legacy cores to the new distribution switches for the following subnets: DMZ(10), DMZ-RC4(46), DMZ(160), BAS-KHW(1030), BAS-Lib(1037), Cisco-DMP(1071), PTIC-Control(1081). No user impact is expected.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m.
    Enable two new production scanning servers. No user impact is expected.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
    Apply database security patches to Cold Fusion and OCUC. All Cold Fussion applications and ru.ryerson.ca will not be available during this time frame.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 7:45 a.m. to 8 a.m.
    Perform JIRA database and data directories backup and move the Change Management project from JIRA test to JIRA production.
  • Friday, February 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.
    Change top-of-message banner added by the Sophos appliance messages that contain encrypted attachments. No user impact is expected.
  • Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.
    Apply a database patch. RU-VPN2, CAS and all CAS-ified applications including my.ryerson and all applications accessed through the my.ryerson will not be available during this time frame.

 

Future/Pending Changes

  • Friday, February 24, 2017 at 6 a.m.
    Network will fail over from Fall 2 to Fall 1 as testing will be completed on the F5 using the alternate datapath. There may be a momentary interruption to firewall sessions during the failover from one cluster member to the other.
