CCS Scheduled Maintenance and Outages

Preventative Maintenance includes a variety of activities necessary to keep information and technology services running, such as software patches, fixes and upgrades, hardware upgrade. Additional outages may occur as a result of unforeseen hardware or software issues. In these cases, CCS strives to provide as much notice as possible.

No alternate service will be available if a system or an application is not available due to the scheduled maintenance or outage, unless explicitly indicated in the table bellow for the particular system/application.

  • Weekdays starting on Monday, August 31, 2015 from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m. - in progress
    Network switches and switch stacks will be upgraded on a continual basis throughout the Ryerson Campus.  Areas affected will be notified of outages in advance of commencement of work.
  • Monday, August 8, 2016 to Friday, September 9, 2016 - in progress
    Upgrade computers in the CCS managed labs to Windows 10.

    Install new computers in the CCS managed labs and deploy the lab image to the new computers as per following schedule:

    Activate a Windows 2012R2 server as a Print Server for ADMIN to replace the current Windows 2003 Print Server and migrate queues/printers to the new server.

    Install Catia Licensing Service.
    Vectorworks, Rhino and Vray will be unavailable during server reboots.
  • Friday, August 26, 2016 from 6:00 AM to 7:00AM
    Apply Patch 9.5.5 to Adobe Connect server to close a number of vulnerabilities.
    Adobe Connect will be  unavailable during this time period.

    Join ryecasttest.semiprodint, bengal.prodint, sphynx.prodint servers to RUAD domain. Grant required RUAD accounts RDP privileges
  • Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon
    Download and install  superpack update of the controller firmware in order to push disk firmware and manage newly added /replaced drives as a spare.
    No user impact
  • Sunday, August 28, 2016 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon
    Transfer data,  recreate access rights and shares from working folder on old  ccs-hr852-tst.admn.ryerson.ca server to the new  ccs-hr854-prd.admn.ryerson.ca. Applying latest windows updates on the new server. Shut down the old server after the migration.
    Data will not be available during the transition.
  • Monday, August 29, 2016 from  8:30 AM until 4:30 PM
    Apply latest Linux patches to HR test servers
    HR Training, HR Development,HR Test and HR Candidate Gateway Test environments will all be unavailable
  • Monday, August 29, 2016 starting at 8:00 AM until Wednesday August 31
    Decommission server viper (141.117.123.35)  and viper2 (141.117.123.58)
    No user impact, client  has confirmed that they can be deleted.
  • Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM
    WordPress upgrade to 4.6 on blog.ryerson.ca.
    A system outage is not required during this time, but each blog may experience a brief outage
  • Wednesday August 31, 2016 - 6:00am to 8:00am
    All Ryerson firewall clusters to be upgraded from code level 7.0.8 to a vendor provided stable version to address multiple issues with the firewalls.  Firewalls will be failed over to their cluster partner during the upgrade. Once the first member is upgraded connectivity will be failed back to it with the second member of the cluster upgraded.  There will then be a fail-over-fail-back between the members to test for redundancy.

    The four clusters are as follows:

    Fall: Representing the global routing schema, this firewall is used as the perimeter firewall for the Ryerson Information Network.
    Winter: This firewall is the perimeter firewall for the Data Centre.
    Spring:  This firewall is the perimeter firewall for the academic and administrative networks.
    Summer:  This firewall separates east/west traffic within the RIN.
    There may be a momentary interruption to firewall sessions during the failover from one cluster member to the other.

    Connect iSCSI switches of DC1 and DC2 via fiber ISL for future projects.
  • Friday, September 2, 2016 from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m.
    Apply linux security updates to ai servers PTI (Personality Temperament Indicator), Kahoots and CCS Software downloads will not be available during this time frame.
  • Friday, September 2, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.
    Join ryecast, nebelung.prodint servers to RUAD domain. Grant required RUAD accounts RDP privileges
  • Date TBD
    Add a dashboard to provide users reports and flag content issue.
