Guest User Account
With a sponsor and proper authorization, guest users can obtain access to some online resources. If you are not a Ryerson student, faculty or staff member you can get a my.ryerson username and password with authorization from a Dean, Chair, Director or Ryerson executive.
Here is the procedure:
- Sponsor Online ID Request Form - All Ryerson employees can sponsor a guest user for online resources or extending existing resources.
- A sponsor must first login to my.ryerson.ca and click on Guest and Generic Accounts. From the options shown, the sponsor should select the Request Guest User ID. From here complete and submit the online form.
Note: The contract expiry date can be no more than 2 years from the current date.
- CCS Verification - CCS will verify that the Approver named on the Guest User ID Request form is a Dean, Chair, Director or Ryerson executive. This person will be contacted by email to validate the request. Upon confirmation, CCS will create the requested ID. An email will be sent to the primary email address indicated on the Guest User ID Request Form with a one-time "Role Activation" link.
- Guest User Role Activation - To activate the Role, the Guest User should click on the link provided in the Role Activation email and follow the activation screens. This link is valid for one week. If it expires the sponsor should contact the CCS Help desk and ask for the Role Activation token to be reissued.
The final screen in the activation process displays the account summary with a list of the activated resources. The account is activated and ready to use within, at most, 24 hours. In many cases it is available after an hour or two depending on how busy the system is.
Note: Any changes to the account after it has been created will require an email to the CCS Help desk from the sponsor.
