SLEEPR (Social Life in Early English Performance Records) Project

Project Team Lead: Jason Boyd

The SLEEPR Project is a project affiliated with REED Online, a research project that is exploring how to reinvent the traditional scholarly communication model of the Records of Early English Drama (REED). REED is an editorial project currently producing a print research series, as a dynamic digital research platform, where REED-related scholarship, including REED's Patrons and Performances Web Site and Early Modern London Theatres (EMLoT) databases, is modeled in a way that enables it to be used as a base for knowledge-building by online users.

The SLEEPR Project will explore the social editing of published REED collections through the design and development of an online social knowledge creation platform enabling crowdsourcing, following the model of participatory initiatives such as the Transcribe Bentham project. It will build upon the work of the CDH-affiliated REED Fortune Theatre Records: A Prototype Digital Edition. The project will be developed through the Iter Community platform.
