• Utilization of waste product; Fly ash characterizations and use; Recovery of dilute sulfur dioxide streams; Biofuel and Energy from agricultural waste and industrial/forest by-products 
• Chemical reaction engineering; Supercritical fluids; Phase equilibria
• Oil/gas processing and production; SAGD, VAPEX, Hybrid and SA-SAGD processes
• Air pollution control; Transport phenomena in environmental systems
