Alkali-aggregate reaction:
mechanisms, effects, preventive measures and development of accelerated test
methods
Use of sulphide-bearing aggregates in concrete:
Testing, effects on concrete and role of mix design.
Sulphate attack in concrete: mechanisms of different
forms of sulphate attack, testing and preventive measures
Durability of concrete: mass transport, shrinkage, and

In his first year of employment with Ryerson, Dr. Shehata received the Teaching Excellence Award of the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science for the academic year 2002/2003. In the second year, 2003/2004, Dr. Shehata received Ryerson's GREET Teaching Excellence Award from the Group to Renew and Enhance Effective Teaching (GREET), Ryerson University.
