Use the D2L ePortfolio in your class
Please note that we are not recommending any new use of the Brightspace ePortfolio tool, as Brightspace is transitioning away from this tool.
These instructions remain for those who have already been using the tool.
The things you add to your ePortfolio are only visible to you - unless you choose to share them with others. Please see the section on sharing your ePortfolio content for the different ways to share your ePortfolio content.
ePortfolio & Your Private Information
It is important to be selective about the information you share in your ePortfolio. While it may be necessary to include your name and maybe even contact information (if you are sharing with a potential employer), it is not advisable to include very confidential information, such as medical information or financial details. You are responsible for the information that you include in this tool.
If you are asked to use ePortfolio as a part of a course assignment, and are not comfortable doing so for privacy reasons, please discuss alternatives with your Instructor.
If you want your students to share their ePortfolio items with you (the Instructor), there are a couple of options available.
- Sharing groups - to allow the sharing of any ePortfolio content with a set of course administrators (Instructors and TAs).
- Individual sharing - only available for "presentation" ePortfolio items, enter email addresses to share with users (in and outside of Toronto Metropolitan University)
- Public sharing - only available for "presentation" ePortfolio items, create a public URL that you can give to anyone to access the presentation
More details about Sharing Groups can be found below. Please see the 'sharing' instructions for details on the other two options.
