About George Thomas Kapelos 
George Thomas Kapelos FRAIC is an architect and planner, and teaches architecture and planning at Ryerson University.  He is a tenured faculty member at the rank of associate professor in the Department of Architectural Science.

Scholarly Research & Creative Activities 
George Thomas Kapelos research focuses on the interrelationship between humans and their environments, through critical investigations of architecture, landscape, and urbanism in the modern and post-modern period.

Canadian Modernity
As a founding member of the Bureau of Architecture in Urbanism in 1987, with Brigitte Shim, Detelf Mertins, Marc Baraness and Ruth Cawker, George Thomas Kapelos was instrumental in drawing attention to the value of Toronto's modern heritage.

In his investigations of landscape history, human occupation of urban neighbourhoods, and interpretations of the constructed environment George Thomas Kapelos has focused on phenomenological readings of the environment.
