Students in first and fourth year are invited to participate in the 2017 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), an important initiative to measure Ryerson’s performance and improve the quality of the student experience. An email asking for students’ feedback with survey details is making its way to inboxes the week of Feb. 13.

“A university must be built on the needs of its students,” said Ryerson President Mohamed Lachemi. “By gathering feedback from our students, this survey will help keep Ryerson on the cutting-edge, creating engaging and exceptional experiences for all of our students.”

NSSE focuses on key characteristics of a university education such as: academic challenge, active and collaborative learning, student-faculty interaction, enriching education experiences, and a supportive campus environment.

Since the last round of NSSE was conducted in 2014, Ryerson has continued to work on initiatives to make a difference to the student experience. For example, the award-winning Student Learning Centre has increased campus study space, the university has expanded counselling and wellness programs, and created the Service Hub which offers streamlined one-stop services for questions about admissions, course enrolment, tuition and financial assistance.

Student input is vital to decision-making and planning throughout Ryerson. The survey is an important way for students to give their feedback on issues ranging from coursework expectations to what Ryerson can do to improve the student experience inside and outside the classroom.

First- and fourth-year students should check their @torontomu.ca email account for details and the link to the online survey. When you complete the survey you become eligible to win one of five tablets to be awarded at Ryerson.  Each of the five winners may choose either an iPad Air 2 WiFi 32GB or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7".
