Since January 2011, I have been the chair of Miller Thomson LLP’s national Pro Bono Committee which administers the firm’s pro bono efforts across its 11 offices.  We have worked to create two projects in conjunction with Pro Bono Law Ontario and the Department of Law and Business at Toronto Metropolitan University, which are now both in their fourth year, and are described as follows:

• a monthly summary legal advice clinic for the Toronto Metropolitan students on a variety of legal issues, including business start-ups; and
• an experiential learning academic year course where senior Law and Business undergraduate students work with a student entrepreneur client, paired with a team of Miller Thomson business lawyers to help the student client.

I and many other lawyers in the firm provide pro bono advice in both projects and we continue to be very pleased to meet the engaging and bright young people at Toronto Metropolitan and help them with their legal needs.
