How will I know if I am graduating?
Your eligibility to graduate will be determined once the Curriculum Advising Office has received your application and your final grades. You will be notified by email as soon as possible of any outstanding requirements. Approximately two weeks prior to Convocation, all eligible students will receive an invitation to attend Convocation ceremonies. Students who have been deemed ineligible to graduate will also be notified at this time. Please check your Ryerson email regurarly for details.

When will I know if I am graduating?
You will find out if you are eligible to graduate in late May for Spring Convocation or early October for Fall Convocation.

How many tickets can can I request?
Each graduating student is eligible for TWO guest tickets for the Ryerson Theatre. However, up to two guest tickets (while supplies last) for the on-campus, large screen broadcast of the Convocation ceremony will be available upon request when you complete your RSVP form. RSVP instructions will be included with the late May/ early October eligibility email.


When will I be able to request my tickets?
You will receive instructions on how to request tickets with your Convocation invitation (eligibility to graduate confirmation) email in late May for Spring Convocation or early October for Fall Convocation. Please check your Ryerson email regularly for details.

Can I have extra tickets?
No, we only have limited seats in our theatre. Each students is only entitled to 2 tickets in the theatre and up to two guest tickets (while supplies last) for the on-campus, large screen broadcast of the Convocation ceremony.

Please note that you would not be able to RSVP until Late May (or Early October), AFTER you get your eligibility to graduate confirmation email.

Do you sell tickets?
We do not sell Convocation tickets nor do we keep a waiting list for them. Students who wish to attend their convocation ceremony will be required to pay a $50.00 Ceremony Fee. This fee includes:

  • the use of regalia (graduation gown and hood appropriate for your program)
  • your ticket
  • up to two guest tickets for live ceremony seating in the Ryerson Theatre
  • up to two guest tickets (while supplies last) for the on-campus, large screen broadcast of the Convocation ceremony
  • post-ceremony reception (details to be announced at the end of the ceremony)

Is there a waiting list for tickets?
We do not sell Convocation tickets nor do we keep a waiting list for them.

If I am not coming to Convocation, what should I do?
If you are not planning to attend your Convocation Ceremony, you may pick-up your award document at Ryerson, have your proxy pick it up for you or, you can elect to have your graduation award document mailed to you. Please find more
information under Graduating in Absentia.

I did not receive my official eligibility to graduate email. What should I do?
Please check your Ryerson email (including "spam" forlder). If you do not receive your official eligibility to graduate email by late May for Spring Convocation or early October for Fall Convocation, please contact gradinfo@ryerson.ca.

What is Ceremony on Screen?
It is our on-campus large screen broadcast of the Convocation ceremony. It will happen in POD250.

Can children attend the ceremony? Are there any age restrictions for children?
Children are allowed to attend. Anyone older than 5 years will need their own ticket.
The ceremony will be at least one and a half hour in length plus the time before the start of the ceremony, this can be a long period for children to sit. We encourage you to sit near the rear of the theatre in case you need to step outside with an unhappy child.

Where do I get my gown? Should I tell you what size I am?
You will pick up the gown on the day of your convocation ceremony at the lower gym. The size is determined by your height, we will give you the right size on the day of provided that you arrive on time.

What time do I have to be at Ryerson on the day of my Convocation?
Basically you have to arrive 2 hours before your ceremony.

I have lost my tickets, what should I do? Can you re-issue them?
Your tickets will be sent to you by email when you complete your RSVP form. You can always go back to this confirmation email to access your tickets.

What are accomodation seating?
If you or a guest has an accommodation request (such as wheelchair seating, hearing devices, etc.) contact Lise Payne by e-mail at l2payne@ryerson.ca or at 416-979-5000 ext. 7857 ensure all needs are addressed. Guests will be asked to arrive one and one quarter hours prior to the ceremony. Please ensure they bring their theatre tickets with them.

If I have a guest who needs accomodation,do they still need tickets?
Yes, a guest will still need a ticket to get into the Ryerson Theatre. Please contact Lise Payne at 416-979-5000, ext. 7857, or by e-mail at l2payne@ryerson.ca

Do the gowns close?
The academic gown does not close in the front (what you wear will show). Graduates will be photographed as they cross the stage so we suggest business or business casual attire.

What should I wear?
We suggest for women and men business or business casual attire.

Can I keep the gown?
No.

Do we wear mortar boards/hats?
Not if you are getting a Bachelor or Master's degree. Only PhD graduates wear mortar boards/hats.

What should I do if I cannot access RAMSS/my.ryerson.ca?

Where should I go on the day of my Convocation?
You have to be at the LOWER GYM (KHN73) 2 hours prior to your Convocation.

 

Where should my guests go?

They should go to the Ryerson Theatre with their tickets. The Ryerson Theatre is located at 43 Gerrard Street East, Toronto. Seating in the Theatre is on a first-come, first-served basis. Theatre doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Only guests with tickets will be admitted.

What is Ceremony on Screen/TV room?
Your guests with "Live Broadcast" tickets will be watching the ceremony on a large screen in POD250.

It is at  POD250

Can I get extra tickets for Ceremony On Screen?
Unfortunately due to limited seating, each student can only request up to 2 tickets for Ceremony On Screen. These tickets will only be available while supplies last.

How do I get tickets for Live Broadcast (Ceremony On Screen)?
When you RSVP for your attendance, you may request up to 2 tickets for Ceremony On Screen. However, please understand that due to limited seating, once our capacity is reached, we would not be able to issue tickets. Please RSVP early.

Where do I pick up the Live Broadcast (Ceremony On Screen) tickets?
These tickets will be sent to you with your confirmation email after you complete your RSVP form. You will be able to print them for your guests or you may email them to your guests.

How do I get the Live Broadcast (Ceremony On Screen) tickets to my guests?
Please make arrangements to provide your guests with their tickets before the day of your convocation ceremony.

Is there any photographer on site on the day of Convocation?

A photographer from Grad Images will photograph each graduate as awards are conferred on stage. Your picture will be taken as you cross the stage and a more formal photo will be taken before you return to your seat. A photographer from Grad Images will also be available after the ceremony to take family and individual photographs.

Following Convocation, each graduate who provide their consent to have their @ryerson.ca email address shared with Grad Images will be contacted by Grad Images for the purpose of reviewing their photo proofs and to purchase photo packages. If you choose not to provide this consent when completing your RSVP form, you will not receive your convocation photos.

Where can I pick up a copy of the class composite?
Ryerson Student Union will set up a booth on the day of Convocation at the Reception and you can pick up your class composite there.
