How will I know if I am graduating?
Your eligibility to graduate will be determined once the Curriculum Advising Office has received your application and your final grades. You will be notified by email as soon as possible of any outstanding requirements. Approximately two weeks prior to Convocation, all eligible students will receive an invitation to attend Convocation ceremonies. Students who have been deemed ineligible to graduate will also be notified at this time.
When will I know if I am graduating?
You will find out if you are eligible to graduate and will receive tickets in late May for Spring Convocation or Early October for Fall Convocation.
How many tickets will each student receive?
Each graduating student is eligible for TWO guest tickets for the Ryerson Theatre. However, two tickets for our on-campus closed circuit TV viewing of the ceremony will be available upon request when you RSVP your theatre tickets. RSVP instructions will be included with the late May/ early October eligibility letter mailing.
When will I receive my tickets?
You will receive your tickets in the mail with your Convocation invitation letter in late May for Spring Convocation or Early October for Fall Convocation. Check your address on RAMSS now and ensure your mailing address is up to date. If your
address is not current, you will not receive important graduation information. It is advised that you have a Canadian mailing address to ensure timely delivery of graduation related information.
Can I have extra tickets?
No,we only have limited seats in our theatre. Each students is only entitled to 2 tickets in the theatre and 2 tickets for Ceremony on Screen.

Please note that you would not be able to RSVP until Late May (or Early October) AFTER you get your tickets in the mail.

If I am not coming to Convocation, what should I do?
If you are not planning to attend your Convocation Ceremony, you may pick-up your award document at Ryerson, have your proxy pick it up for you or, you can elect to have your graduation award document mailed to you. Please find more
information under Graduating in Absentia.
I did not receive my tickets in the mail, what should I do?
Did you move and did not change your address? Please go to your old address and try to retrieve your tickets. We are unable to replace theatre tickets lost in the mail or otherwise. Any lost tickets will be replaced with tickets to the on-campus closed circuit television broadcast. Each student will only be eligible for two of these tickets.
What is Ceremony on Screen?
It is our on-campus closed circuit TV viewing of the ceremony. It will happen in POD250.
Can children attend the ceremony? Are there any age restrictions for children?
Children are allowed to attend, anyone older than 3 years will need their own ticket.
The ceremony will be at least one and a half hour in length plus the time before the start of the ceremony, this can be a long period for children to sit. We encourage you to sit near the rear of the theatre in case you need to step outside with an unhappy child.
Where do I get my gown? Should I tell you what size I am?
You will pick up the gown on the day of at the lower gym. The size is determined by your height, we will give you the right size on the day of provided that you arrive on time.
What time do I have to be at Ryerson on the day of my Convocation?
Basically you have to arrive 2 hours before your ceremony.

What are accomodation seating?
If you or a guest has an accommodation request (such as wheelchair seating, hearing devices, etc.) contact Lise Payne by e-mail at l2payne@ryerson.ca or at 416-979-5000 ext. 7857 by May 31st at noon to ensure all needs are addressed. Guests will be asked to arrive one and one quarter hours prior to the ceremony. When e-mailing, include the name of the person needing the accommodation, details of their requirements, the name of anyone attending with them, ceremony date and time and, the name of the graduating student. Please ensure they bring their theatre tickets with them.
If I have a guest who needs accomodation,do they still need tickets?
Yes, a guest will still need a ticket to get into the Ryerson Theatre. Please contact Lise Payne at 416-979-5000, ext. 7857, or by e-mail at l2payne@ryerson.ca.
Do the gowns close?

What should I wear?
We suggest for women and men business or business casual attire.
Do we wear mortar boards/hats?
Not if you are getting a Bachelor or Master's degree. Only PhD graduates wear mortar boards/hats.

Where should I go on the day of my Convocation?
You have to be at the LOWER GYM (KHN73) 2 hours prior to your Convocation.
They should go to the Ryerson Theatre with their tickets. The Ryerson Theatre is located at 43 Gerrard Street East, Toronto. Seating in the Theatre is on a first-come, first-served basis. Theatre doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Only guests with tickets will be admitted.
What is Ceremony on Screen/TV room?
Your guests with green tickets will be watching the ceremony on a large screen closed circuit at POD250.

Can I get extra tickets for Ceremony On Screen?
Unfortunately due to limited seating, each student can only request up to 2 tickets for Ceremony On Screen.
How do I get tickets for Ceremony On Screen?
When you RSVP for your attendance, you may request up to 2 tickets for Ceremony On Screen. However, please understand that due to limited seating, once our capacity is reached, we would not be able to issue tickets. Please RSVP early.
Where do I pick up the Ceremony On Screen tickets?
You will pick up your Ceremony On Screen tickets on the day of your convocation when you sign in at the lower gym.
How do I get the Ceremony On Screen tickets to my guests?
Please establish a meeting location away from the front doors of the Theatre to ease congestion.

Is there any photographer on site on the day of Convocation?
CanGrad Studios will photograph each graduate as awards are conferred on stage. Following Convocation, each graduate will be mailed a complimentary photographic proof and order form, listing optional packages. A CanGrad photographer is also available after the ceremony to take more formal portraits.
Where can I pick up a copy of the class composite?
Ryerson Student Union will set up a booth on the day of Convocation at the Reception and you can pick up your class composite there.
