Guests with Special Needs

Ryerson University is committed to accessibility for persons with disabilities. We want to ensure that all their special needs are met.

If you or a guest has a special need (such as wheelchair seating, hearing devices, etc.) that requires special consideration for the Convocation procession or ceremony, contact Lise Payne at 416-979-5000, ext. 7857, or by e-mail at l2payne@ryerson.ca

To ensure availability, please contact us by October 12, 2011.

Preferred seating is available for persons with special needs. These guests will be asked to arrive at the theatre 75 minutes prior to the ceremony.

Please note that a guest with special needs will still need a ticket to get into the Ryerson Theatre.

When e-mailing or leaving a voicemail, please includes the following details:

  • Student Name and contact information
  • Program
  • Date and Time of Ceremony
  • The name of the person with the need
  • Please state specifics about their requirements
For example: Are they in a wheelchair? Do they remain in the wheelchair or transfer to a theatre seat? Do they need to clearly see the sign language interpreter?
  • Is there anyone else attending with them? What is the person's name? Do they have their Theatre tickets in hand? (Please note that a guest with special needs will still need a ticket to get into the Ryerson Theatre.)

Guests with special needs must check in at the Information table 75 minutes before the start of the ceremony to ensure they are seated before seats become available to the rest of the ceremony guests.
