Faculty and Staff Information
Black academic gowns are required for all Academic Procession participants and are supplied by the university. They are available in the Lower Gym (external,KHW73) the day of your ceremony. Give yourself enough time to sign-out your gown and be in the marshaling area in time. We don’t have a secure area for coat check, so please leave all valuables in your office.
Academic hoods are the responsibility of the individual faculty member. If you would like to wear a hood you can purchase one at external,www.harcourts.com or external,www.imperialrobes.com. Wearing a hood is not required but does add to the “splendor” of the Academic Procession.
In keeping with the Ryerson tradition, any faculty or staff member who has a family member graduating is welcome to congratulate them on stage. This has created very special memories for many Ryersonians throughout the years. Please fill in the google formConvocation Family Presentation Sign-Up Form.
If you register for a family presentation, you will be asked to join the Academic Procession and to sit on stage for the duration of the ceremony. Please see above regarding Regalia.
Volunteering at Convocation
All faculty and staff are encouraged to sign up to volunteer at convocation. We have 17 ceremonies in the spring, six in the fall and each ceremony requires between 50 – 60 people behind the scenes to make it run! If you are interested, please view the Volunteer page for more information.
