Ceremony Participation Registration and Family Presentations

Faculty members are invited to join the Academic Procession and platform party for the duration of the ceremony.

As a faculty member you can participate on a ceremony day as part of the stage party showing students and their families a strong Ryerson Community. The stage party will also afford you an opportunity to congratulate students as they cross the stage and if you have time, to hood undergraduate students in the marshalling area prior to the processions. To participate on stage, you may do so by registering using the online form below. Please log in using your my.ryerson (matrix) User ID.

In keeping with the Ryerson Convocation tradition any staff or faculty memeber who has an immediate family member graduating, and wishes to congratulate the graduand on stage, may do so by registering using the online form below. Please log in using your my.ryerson (matrix) User ID.

Staff or faculty members participating in a Family Presentation will be asked to attend the Convocation rehearsal. An e-mail will be sent advising you of the rehearsal date and time.

Faculty Gowning

Black academic gowns will be supplied by the University and are available in the designated area of the Lower Gymnasium, Kerr Hall West (KHW 73). Please plan to gown at least forty-five minutes prior to the commencement of the ceremony. Therefore you should arrive by 8:45 a.m. for a morning ceremony, 1:45 p.m. for an afternoon ceremony or 5:15 p.m. for an evening ceremony.

The gowns do not close completely in front, so what you wear may be seen underneath. It is also not particularly convenient to carry a bag or purse on stage. Although the Lower Gymnasium does a few coat racks for leaving belongings behind, do not leave valuables as we cannot accept responsibility as staff may be called away and leave the room locked but unattended.

The student procession will start half an hour prior to the ceremony.

Academic Hoods

Academic hoods are the responsibility of the individual faculty member. If you would like to wear a hood, explore the possibility of rental or purchase at www.harcourts.com (416-977-4408) or at www.imperialrobes.com (416-340-6534) or any other regalia supplier. The wearing of a hood is not required but does add to the 'splendour' of the Academic Procession.
