PLEASE NOTE: Convocation tickets are only available to students who have received written confirmation of their eligibility to graduate from Curriculum Advising. For information on applying to graduate and determining your graduation eligibility, visit Curriculum Advising.
Please ensure that your guests have their activated tickets in advance and that they bring them on the ceremony date. If they forget them there is no guarantee of seating without the tickets in hand.
We are unable to replace theatre tickets.
Each graduating student is eligible for two guest tickets for the Ryerson Theatre. Extra tickets for Theatre seating are NOT AVAILABLE for any Convocation ceremony.
If you miss the RSVP deadline, we cannot guarantee your guests' admittance to the Ryerson Theatre.
However, two tickets for our live broadcast of the ceremony will be available upon request when you rsvp your theatre tickets. RSVP instructions will be included with the late May (for Spring Convocation) or late September (for Fall Convocation) eligibility letter email. The closed circuit TV room is located at PODIUM 250 (POD-250).
The convocation ceremonies will be broadcast live in the Amphitheatre at the Student Learning Center. Guests without a ticket are welcome to view the ceremonies there.
The SLC is located at 341 Yonge Street, on the north-east corner of Yonge and Gould Street.
Seating is limited for this area so please RSVP as soon as you receive your eligibility to graduate email.
The Ryerson Theatre is located at 43 Gerrard Street East, Toronto. Seating in the theatre and POD 250 is on a first-come, first-served basis. Theatre doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Only guests with tickets will be admitted. Guests should arrive at least 30 minutes before the ceremony and be seated in the theatre at least 15 minutes before the ceremony. Late arrivals will be asked to wait outside the Theatre until the Chancellor's and Academic procession has entered the Theatre.
Instructions on how to obtain two guest tickets for the theatre will be distributed to students' official Ryerson email address in LATE MAY (for Spring Convocation) or LATE SEPTEMBER (for Fall Convocation) with their graduation eligibility email.
Students who wish to attend their convocation ceremony will be required to pay a $50.00 Ceremony Fee. This fee includes:
- the use of regalia (graduation gown and hood appropriate for your program)
- your ticket
- up to two guest tickets for live ceremony seating in the Ryerson Theatre
- up to two guest tickets for the on-campus, large screen broadcast of the Convocation ceremony
- post-ceremony reception (details to be announced at the end of the ceremony)
On the Day of Convocation
On the day of your convocation if you have not been able to send your guests their tickets in advance they can be left for pick up at the Theatre box office.
Please print out the tickets and place them in an envelope with the guest names, your name and the ceremony date and time. When picking up your regalia, you can leave the envelope at the check in table and it will be moved up the box office. Tickets must be left 1.5 hours before the ceremony starts. The box office will be opened an hour before the ceremony starts. Please ask your guest to bring photo ID to pick up the tickets.
Tickets at the Box Office will be for the immediate ceremony only.
If you or a guest has an accommodation request (such as wheelchair seating, hearing devices, etc.) contact Lise Payne by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 416-979-5000 ext. 7857 to ensure all needs are addressed. Guests will be asked to arrive one and one quarter hours prior to the ceremony. When e-mailing, include the name of the person needing the accommodation, details of their requirements, the name of anyone attending with them, ceremony date and time and, the name of the graduating student. Please ensure they bring their theatre tickets with them.
One of the available streams of the webcast will carry a double screen showing the ceremony and a sign language interpreter signing in American Sign Language (ASL).
