Assessment
Grades
The Grade Center allows the instructor to keep track of and post student grades in Blackboard.
The instructor tool is called Grade Center, and is accessed in the Control Panel, while the student tool is called My Grades.
The Grade Center (instructor tool)
This gives the instructor the ability to enter students' grades, in a spreadsheet-style environment. Grade columns may be manually created, or automatically generated when the instructor creates Blackboard Quizzes, Assignments, or selects grading for other tools, such as Wikis, Blogs and Journals.
The Grade Center can be downloaded into a comma-delimited or tab-delimited file, which can be opened in programs like Excel.
This tool can be found in: Course Control Panel > Grade Center
In this section, there are instructions on how to:
- Add and Edit Grades
- Modify the Grade Center
- Download and Upload Grades
- Create Calculated Columns
- Create Smart Views
My Grades (student tool)
This gives students access to any grades that the instructor has made available to them. Students do not see the grades of other students.
Please see the section on 'My Grades' for information on making the tool available to students, and hiding specific columns from the student tool.
Official Grade Submission via RAMSS
Although you can keep track of your grades using the Blackboard Grade Center tool, there is no way for you to automatically submit those grades from your online course to Ryerson, for official grade submission.
Official grade submission is done via the RAMSS System, which you can access by logging into the my.ryerson portal, and clicking on the RAMSS tab at the top of the screen. The RAMSS System appears to be a part of Blackboard, but is in fact a separate system and is supported by a different department at Ryerson.
