The Content Collection
The Content Collection is a place to store files that can be linked from within Blackboard course or organization shells, or shared between users. While a little more complex than the file options in a course shell, the Content Collection offers more flexibility with your content.
Starting in Blackboard 9.1, any file you upload to a Content Area in your course shell will be stored in your course's folder in the Content Collection. You don't need to know how to use the Content Collection in order to upload and remove files from a Content Area.
Some advanced features offered in the Content Collection:
- sharing documents (or entire folders of documents) across your courses
- sharing documents with other instructors and/or allow them to be linked to others' courses
The Content Collection can be accessed via the 'Content Collection' tab in the Portal.
Your User Folder
Ryerson faculty, staff and students all have access to the Content Collection and have a predetermined amount of filespace available in their 'user folder'. Files and subfolders in your user folder can be linked to from any course or organization, and can be shared outside of a course/organization environment by adding permissions for specific my.ryerson users.
Course Folders
Each course shell has a folder in which the documents uploaded to the Content Areas are stored. This folder can be used and organized just like any other Content Collection folder. All Instructors in the course shell will have the ability to maintain and modify this folder. TAs and Course Builders may also have some access.
File Quota
When in your user folder, your quota can be found in the upper right-hand corner of the Content Collection screen. If you are working on a project that requires more filespace, please contact the support team to make a request to raise your quota. Approval of the request will depend on various criteria, including availability of space.
